Welcome to the United Nations Joint Programme e-Newsletter

Our quarterly newsletter provides our programme partners and the general public with detailed information on the progress of the Joint Programme.

The Joint programme is a unique effort to provide better opportunities for women and girls in Turkey by building service capacity for local governments and enhancing collaboration between NGOs and government authorities.

UNJP Local Facilitator Huriye Karabacak talked to representatives from women’s NGOs in Nevşehir:

The UNJP was very valuable to our organization. Especially, the project management training was very useful for us. The local management of the Joint Programme and its various activities helped women to get to know one another and create new opportunities. This changed the whole dynamics of our city. We would like to thank everyone involved in the Joint Programme. (Nuriye Arar, Turkish Women Union, Nevşehir Director for Nevşehir branch)

The UNJP helped us gain information on women’s problems in Turkey and in our city. Through this programme initiated by the UN, we realized the necessity to unite and founded the Cappadocia Women’s Solidarity Association. With the help of this programme, we began working for the basic needs of women and girls. We also began working on the problems of immigrant and refugee women and girls. (Hayriye Demirbilek, Cappadocia Women’s Solidarity Association Director)
